for those of you who have experienced cruising in tropical islands, what food and drinks do you recommend---especially if you do not want to have a heavy stomach, but at the same time, you want to make the most of the available food and beverage? thanks..

I am guessing you are referring to the food on the ship?
I went on a cruise to the Bahamas several years ago. I just ordered right off the menu and chose what I wanted that wasn't too heavy. Of course, I always went crazy at breakfast. When else can you get pancakes, french toast, eggs, hash browns, etc... and not feel guilty about only eating a bite or two of each? :D
I'd suggest eating small meals (there is ALWAYS food available) and not drinking much soda. You want to enjoy, but not feel sick.
Have FUN!

Stick with old favorites - but do try some new things, too.
In Tahiti, we stayed at a club med resort and had the opportunity to try several local favorites - like bread fruit. While it wasn't for me - my husband loved it!

I love the overall presentation they have on cruiseships. Some of the ice sculptures and decorations are really outstanding!

One of the cruises I went on had ice sculptures with almost every food display! (except for in the actual dining room)
Each of our dinners had a "theme". Each night featured a different type of food such as Italian, French, American, Mexican, etc.
Here is just a sampling of the 'food bars' they had running most of the day..
1. Chocolate
2. Cheese
3. Pizza
4. Pastries
5. Hors D'oeurves
People wonder why you can so easily gain weight on a cruise!
