:) Just wanted to let people know that the Nutmeg Restaurant right at the pier is open and doing well post-hurricane. A guy my hubby works with just came back and took photos for us. I'm so glad! We had a lovely lunch there while in port January 04 and are glad it's still there and doing well.

Thanks!
We keep thinking about Grenada when we choose cruise itineraries, but never get fired up to go there. Please, post some more about the island for us.

We had a great time in Grenada! It's a lovely island. There were four of us exploring together. There are a few little shops right at the pier and a spice-vendor row right where the tenders drop you off. My only complaint about this island is the incredibly pushy cab drivers. I had one driver follow me around on foot for about 25 minutes scaring off other drivers and making sure we didn't use another cab as he wanted to take us into town.
My husband finally told him to leave us alone and that we would rather walk than use his services. Walk we did --- a 5 minute walk away from the pier and we were in the centre of town. (the cabbie told us it was a 20 minute walk over rough roads - hardly!) We walked around for a bit but there's not many shops or interesting places to go into so we walked a little further and found another group of cabbies offering tours of the island. We bargained quite a bit and finally found an airconditioned van with two tour guides for $15/per couple - on ship we found out we scored a great deal. :)
We spent about 3 hours with the guides and they took us all over the island, showed us some schools, churches, spice farms, gorgeous scenery and let us hang out at some waterfalls. We had a great time listening to the history of the island and their funny jokes and made it back in plenty of time to catch the ship.
Grenada is not a shopping meca like St. Thomas or really big for watersports, etc. but if you're looking for a nice relaxing day in a tropical setting, this island is a great place to visit. Save the shopping and snorkelling for another port and just enjoy the island scenery.

Thanks for the input!
I am trying to get my wife to sense that Grenada is ok. Hard for many that are old enough to remember the conflict there to imagine it a vacation spot. I bet it is beautiful though!

Hi! What can we find from the Nutmeg restaurant? What do they serve for the customers and what is their specialty? I'm also wondering if it's a five star restaurant.

that sure sounds fun, bzeus!! with all those great experiences, i won't mind not having a heap of good buys with me...just enjoying the island is enough..the spice farm sounds fun too...just the phrase "spice farm" gets me excited....what are some nice restos in the island? did you get to try some of them?

From what I found on the Nutmeg restaurant it is a Seafood and Creole type restaurant. In U.S dollars the meals are between $13.00 and $26.00. It sounds like it would be a good restaurant to check out if you ever get to go to Grenada.

HHmpp. That's sounds quite expensive and judging from the prices, this could be a five star restaurant in Grenada. Sure, it is a restaurant worth dropping by.
