Has anyone taken a Hawaiian cruise? My friend just got back from an 11 day Hawaiian cruise on Norweguan. It was his forst cruise so he enjoyed it. Interestingly though, he said many of those that were on the ship and who were seasoned cruisers repeated what I have heard - i.e. that this cruise is not up to the standards of other cruises in service.
I have cruised many times and love the service. All the ships I have cruised on are sprinkled with a variety of wait staff from many cultural backgrounds and that makes the cruise even more fun. They also have an appreciation for quality service.
I cannot state it first hand, but I have heard that cruise ships that tour the Hawaiian Islands are required to hire US citizens as their wait staff. As I understand it, therein lies the problem. The American wait staff does not perform as well as those from foreign countries.
