Ibiza is largely unknown to the tourism world. The island gets very little in the way of tourist traffic other then the few who come by way of boat as part of a tour. There is wonderful fishing around the island which is the main source for industry on Ibiza. Swimming is also popular with the residents and the few who visit.

Island Diversity

Because the island was used by so many there is a lot of different cultures present here. Romans once had a presence which left behind the Italian flavor as well as the Greeks and the Spanish who once used this island as a storage ground for gold and other valuables of the Spanish Monarchy.

Activities

The main activity on the island for the tourist is the tours of the ancient buildings. Many of the old churches that were meant to help defend the island still stand and are open to tours year round.

Recent discoveries on the island Ibiza lends the thought that this island was inhabited as far back as three thousand years. The discovery of crude tools and many other objects says that the island had people from as early as seven hundred bc and researchers believe that it may date back even further with more research.
