What’s In Store For You In a Cruise Vacation

Going on a cruise with your family or friends will be a memorable experience. It is a journey that many wish to embark on every year, if they have the budget and the time. With all the wonderful memories and the fascinating places to see, it’s no wonder that joining a cruise is the most popular form of escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Imagine having a floating hotel, one that has all the newest technologies on board for your entertainment. A nightclub and casino open 24 hours a day. A spa, gym and all other amenities needed to keep you busy all throughout the day. Now this wonderland stops at the most interesting places where you can shop to your heart’s content and view the sites that location has to offer. If you are just imagining, then maybe you should start planning because this fantasy has become a reality for many people.

There are different destinations or areas that a cruise ship liner navigates around. The more popular ones are Caribbean and European cruises. These typical last some 7 days, although you can opt for a longer 10 day cruise. A 7 day cruise in the Caribbean has about 5 ports of call, two of which are the departure and arrival ports. For a cruise that lasts 10 days, there may be 6 ports of call, depending on the length of the journey and the size of the cruise liner. A 4 day trip departing from Miami is not the shortest cruise, as some liners depart in some part of the Caribbean and lasts about 2 days only.

During stopovers, you have the option to go into the island and wander a bit. Some prefer to go shopping for souvenirs, while others take this time to explore. A port of call may last a few hours depending on the length of the cruise, but when it is time for the ship to leave you will have to get on board. The saying nobody gets left behind doesn’t apply to cruise ships.

It may sound mundane to you, but larger ships are comparable in grandeur and luxury to a 5 star hotel; if not even better. The size of the ship determines how many people will be booked, but during the peak season you will have a hard time finding an available slot even in the biggest liners. So make sure that you reserved a slot months before you intended vacation to avoid the holiday rush.
