Cruising And Doing The Laundry

Bookmark and Share

Cruise ships offer you all the comforts and amenities of home. Cruise vacations allow you to relax in a cozy place where you can leave all your troubles and stress behind. Unlike home where you have to do your own laundry, leave it to the ship’s staff to take care of all your laundry needs while vacationing.

Although cruise laundry services are slightly more expensive, they save you with the hassles of packing clothes for every day of your cruise. They offer complete laundry services, including ironing, pressing, and cleaning, for a price of course. You can simply leave a laundry bag, usually provided in your staterooms, for pick up and a room steward can take care of this and deliver it back to your room once it’s done. This can range anywhere from $12-20 per laundry bag. Pressing services can range from $2 to $4, depending on the article of clothing. Laundry per article can cost $2 to $6. Just like back home, dry cleaning is slightly more expensive. Sometimes this is a necessity on the cruise, with the formal wear and tuxedos packed for formal nights. Dry cleaning usually costs $5 to $10 and even higher in some cruises. The rates aren’t so bad if you think about the hassles it saves you as compared to packing all the clothes you’ll need for everyday of a two week cruise. If you want to find out how much you’ll be spending for laundry, just inquire about the rates prior to your cruise.

You also have the option of taking care of the laundry on your own with the ship’s self-service laundry facilities. This is a more practical option for those who want to save some money. Detergents are quite affordable, they cost only about a dollar from a vending machine but you also have the option of packing your own. Washing machine uses range from a dollar to $1.50 per use, with dryers costing about the same. Ideally, do your laundry early in the morning or late at night to ensure you’ll have a machine and dryer for yourself and you won’t have to battle crowds at the Laundromat. There’s also another option of doing the laundry in a port of call, but this isn’t exactly recommended as you will might be constrained in terms of time. Besides, wouldn’t you rather spend your days exploring a beautiful city rather than worrying about your laundry and getting back to the ship on time?

Laundromats at sea are no different from those at home. Relax and enjoy with the many facilities of the ship while friendly and accommodating staff take care of all your needs. You don’t need to worry because laundry services are always available, and they provide you with various options for your satisfaction.
