Turks & Caicos

Turks and Caicos are basically two groups of West Indies islands, and are considered British territory known for bustling tourism, among other things. They rest roughly South-East of the Bahamas, and roughly a thousand kilometers from the United States’ Miami, Florida. And though a separate entity from the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos nevertheless shares practically the same romantic history as its famous tropical island sister.

These former favorite pirates’ hide-out is composed of eight main islands and twenty smaller islands, making Turks and Caicos perfect for those who like island hopping. Also, the way the islands are geographically located will satisfy any seafood-lover, as conch, lobster, and other shell fish are the abundant natural resources. While Turks and Caicos has a 30,000 population rate, some of the islands are actually uninhabited such as the East and West Caicos, Pine Cay, Parrot Cay, and Ambergris Cay. In other words, for those seeking more than a little privacy, here are some locations you can pretend being marooned at, yet retain some of the comforts of modern living by just hopping to another island!

With almost 200,000 yearly visitors, one might wonder what it is about Turks and Caicos that makes it such a dream destination for the tired and the overworked. Definitely a playground for the wealthy and the famous, Turks and Caicos has lured such big names as Dick Clark and Bruce Willis to build their homes on its sandy shores. Also, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married at Parrot Cay (the uninhabited, paparazzi-free island must have been heaven to them!) and Eva Longoria and Tony Parker spent their honeymoon soaking in the Turks and Caicos sun.
