The tiny island of Jost Van Dyke is home to less than 200 people. It is only four miles wide by three miles wide, and it’s highest point is 1,054 feet above sea level. Because of the volcanic nature of the island, it’s windward side has rugged cliffs and vegetation. The leeward side is bordered by sandy beaches.

Rich in history, the island today can be enjoyed for it’s wonderful caribbean cuisine and famous cocktails, including the “Painkiller”! Partying is a big event here, so you can expect a happening night life!

Water Sports
There are great spots for snorkelling off Sandy Spit Beach, and White Bay Beach. There are also dive sites for experienced divers at Great Tobago. Check out the natural jacuzzi at the East End, or visit White Bay Beach, which has been rated as one of the top ten in the world!

Island Diversity
The island was named for an early Dutch settler who had formerly been a pirate. Rich in cultural diversity, the island has been home to many including Arawak and Carib indians, Dutch, African and British. The people are known for their warm and welcoming spirit!

Activities
Shop for local treasures, explore old sugar mill ruins or hike the many trails that criss-cross the island. During the fall and winter months you can expect to see whales from high points on the island. Also, include in your plans the Diamond Cay National Park, which is a bird sanctuary, and also a nesting ground for the rare leatherback turtle!
