Caribbean Islands
Like a string of exotic beads laid out in the Atlantic, each island of the Caribbean has something in store for the tropical tourist. The Caribbean has become a household term synonymous to balmy shores, foamy surf, and sunsets to die for. Because of its near-perfect weather for the most part of the year, this side of the Atlantic has become a favorite destination for honeymooners, families, cruisers, and backpackers alike. With hundreds of islands to explore and one of the most diverse cultures around, a week’s vacation in this archipelago surely won’t be enough.

Go to exotic Barbados in the relatively unvisited Southern region, or include colorful Jamaica in your port stop itinerary; there’s something new to discover whichever way you go. Or you can take a trip to the Bahamas and get a first-hand look at what the fuss is all about. If you think that the Caribbean is all about wide smiles, vibrant colors, and a perfect backdrop of exquisite beaches, pack your khaki pants, and brace yourself for more pleasant surprises.

Not Enough Time to Visit What Belize Has to Offer

Not Enough Time to Visit What Belize Has to Offer

My wife and I just got back from our second cruise to the Western Caribbean. We were able to visit Costa Maya, Cozumel, Nassau, and Belize. We had heard so many wonderful things about Belize, especially the coral reefs the country is famous for. Sadly, Belize was the one stop on the cruise where we had to be tendered in from more than a mile off shore. Whenever you have to be transported by little passenger boats from the cruise ship to land it eats into your time for tours that day. Thus we only got to visit the little [...]

Amphibious Fun on St. Martin

Amphibious Fun on St. Martin

Whenever we visit the islands while on a cruise ship vacation we take advantage of every opportunity to see something new at each stop. I never understood why anyone would take a cruise that has several ports of call and decide to stay on the ship and not visit the island. Whether we’ve visited the island before or not, we are always enthusiastic about what we might see or learn from the people that live there. One trip not too long ago we were with some friends on a cruise and we let each person pick a tour they would [...]

Aruba's Lasting Impression

Aruba’s Lasting Impression

My wife and I were privileged enough to experience a wonderful vacation in 1999 in Aruba. Admittedly, this 5 day vacation was a milestone in our love for the Caribbean. I won this trip for a selling quota the company made I worked for at the time. It was our first trip to this beautiful island in the Southern Caribbean but it called us back for a full week a few years later and we have stopped there a few times on cruises. Spending those five days at the Aruba Marriott Resort was some of the most exiting of our memories.
Of course [...]

Monkey Business on Nevis

Monkey Business on Nevis

A few years back my husband and I had the opportunity to rent a villa with some friends on the island of Nevis. It’s a small island, not as commercialized as most, which is what attracts us. It is also right next to the island of St. Kitts, which is within a ferry ride distance. So it’s like getting two islands for the price of one! We stayed for two weeks right across from Oualie Beach, which is beautiful, and one of the nicest on the island.
One of our main objectives was to see [...]

Is Crime and Poverty Out of Control in the Caribbean?

Is Crime and Poverty Out of Control in the Caribbean?

Nobody loves the Caribbean more than the managers of this web site. So our motives are not to scare anyone away from the beautiful Caribbean Islands or any other tropical destination. On our many trips to the Caribbean whether it be a villa vacation on Nevis, staying at a resort in Aruba, or vacationing on a cruise ship, we have never personally experienced any crime against ourselves or fellow vacationers. However, as you scan the daily news reports available from the independent newspapers representing their individual island governements you cannot be blind to the tragic crime happening on the same [...]

Effects of Tourism on Caribbean Reefs

Effects of Tourism on Caribbean Reefs

We associate Caribbean vacations with white sandy beaches, bountiful ocean wildlife, exotic landscapes and thrilling adventure. The Islands have lured millions, and still continue to enamor hundreds every day to come, visit and have a taste of what Caribbean leisure is all about. Of course, tourists are welcome all year round as they are the number one source of income for many locals. However, during the last decade alone, there has been a significant effect on the reef ecosystem surrounding the beautiful islands.
The activity that tourists most enjoy is snorkeling and diving. The underwater scenes are a feast to behold. [...]
