What Cruise Clothes To Pack Start Booking Your Dream Cruise

The first thing to consider in packing clothes for a cruise, is how much luggage you really want to drag along. When it's a fun vacation, requiring little in the way of formal wear, you can do very nicely with mix and match outfits that are wash and wear, without ironing. Most ships will have onboard laundry facilities you can use yourself, as well as dry cleaning for suits and dresses, and either an iron in your stateroom, or pressing services available for a set fee. Depending on your accommodation, butler service may be included, and they will unpack your clothes after boarding, pressing what has been wrinkled in the suitcase.

You can either do your laundry at the end of the day, or send dry cleaning out through your steward or butler. Times for pick-up and return are usually available in the stateroom, along with the fees, and whether express service can be had in a dress emergency.

Warm climates, especially those at higher altitudes than you're used to, really require light, loose clothing that is worn for comfort. This is where two or three pairs of shorts, with a variety of shirts/blouses can come in handy. A long sleeve blouse does nicely for a cooler evening on deck, and also provides a light cover against the sun, during the day. Sleeveless tops will keep you from sweating, but if it's sunny, don't forget the sunblock.

People often focus more on their bodies than their feet, when it's the feet that will take them where they want to go. Sandals are fine on the beach or the deck, but if you are planning on hiking, or doing a lot of touring, a pair of thick-soled shoes will have your feet thanking you at the end of the day. If the hiking or touring is going to take most of the day, you might even consider carrying a light nylon back pack, where you can stash an extra pair of cotton socks to prevent blisters, sunblock, bottles of water, and maps.

Consider the destinations you'll be visiting, and choose at least one coat/sweater that will do for shore excursions and evenings on deck where you may get a cool breeze. A light windbreaker and cardigan can be combined, should you find it unseasonably chilly.
