This class of the Royal Caribbean ships is one of the most up to date and innovative of its kind, with more space, more amenities and more things to do. Each ship weighs in at 138,000 tons, and hosts up to 3,114 passengers on every cruise, with every one of their guests being given five-star treatment in all aspects of their adventure at sea.
The luxury and attention to detail starts with accommodations, and the interior staterooms where you’ll find a comfortable, well-designed layout featuring twin beds, and a private bath. There are also Promenade staterooms in the forefront of the ship, which have the same appointments plus a bowed window that looks out on the Royal Promenade.
When a view and more space is important, Voyager ships offer the Oceanview category, starting with the basic features of twin beds, a sitting area and sofa, vanity set up, private bath, and window. A large Oceanview stateroom has the same appointments laid out over another 17% of floor space.
The Family Oceanview stateroom can sleep six, having twin beds that convert to a queen size, bunk beds in a separate area, as well as a sofa bed and private bathroom with shower. When you want the option to step outside and sample the ocean breezes, or enjoy the night sky in privacy, book a Deluxe Oceanview with balcony, and get the basic stateroom set-up, and extras like a mini-bar, phone, television, computer jack, vanity area that is extendible for use as a computer station, hair dryer, and 110/220 electrical outlets for the convenience of European and North American guests. Some bookings in this group of staterooms have sofa beds for extra guests, and/or room for Pack ‘N Plays. A Superior Oceanview stateroom has the same features and amenities, with a larger floor space.
Suites are often the choice of couples, families with children, or just those who like more room, and the luxuries that they’ve come to associate with the finest in cruise vacations. This category starts with Junior Suites and the basic features including twin beds that convert to a queen size, a full bathroom, private balcony, sitting area, and the same amenities available in the OceanView class.
Grand Suites enjoy all the basics laid out over a generous amount of floor space, along with extras such as a VCR, DVD player, stereo, a larger private bathroom with a double sink, and concierge service.
When a family wants to really spread themselves around, or if couples are traveling together, a Royal Family Suite that sleeps up to eight may meet their needs better, having two separate bedrooms, each with twin beds and one room having two extra Pullman accommodations; two bathrooms, one with a shower, and one with a tub; a spacious living area with a double sofa bed; a private balcony, and concierge service.
An Owner’s Suite is also a deluxe arrangement that includes a queen size bed, separate living room area with a queen size sofa/bed, a large private bathroom with a tub as well as a separate shower and bidet, a private balcony and concierge service. The basic features are enhanced by an entertainment center with a 42” flat screen television, a dinette for four, dry bar, sleeping arrangements to accommodate four, with room for a rollaway bed or Pack ‘N Play.
A Royal Suite is truly the regal way to cruise while you enjoy the separate bedroom with a king size bed, private balcony with hot tub, whirlpool bathtub, a surround sound system, complimentary concierge service, and on most ships- a baby grand piano.
Once onboard any of the Voyager family of ships, you’re entering a whole new environment that is literally a world of its own, with all the activities, entertainment and dining options that you could ever want. For the physically active and athletically minded, the fun starts in the Shipshape Fitness Center. Join an aerobics class, a step program, yoga class, resistance training, multi-format biking programs, aqua workouts, or the balance in motion sessions, focusing on flexibility and relaxation.
Or go directly to game action on the Sports Deck where you can slam dunk on the full size basketball court, work out the kinks with inline skating, work on your endurance at the running track, or enjoy a “short” game of miniature golf. For a real rush, have a go at the rock climbing wall. And don’t forget that Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines offers an exciting array of shore excursions in every port where the drop anchor!
Of course, if you’d rather relax and indulge yourself in a bit of pampering, as well as some truly rejuvenating treatments, there are spa services that will tone up your skin and your mind, with therapies directed at restoring and maintaining your physical self. And it’s not just for women! Enjoy cleansing and restorative facials, and then treat the rest of your body to a sea wrap, or one of the many massages from deep muscle, to hot stone. Your hair and nails will thank you as well, when you book one of the many pedicure and manicure sessions that include massages to aid circulation, and world renowned products to promote the health and condition of skin and hair follicles.
And as a special extra, young people aged 13-17 may experience the same personal attentions at the Generation YSPA. With parental permission, teens can enjoy specialized treatments just for them, including the Acne Attack oxygen facial, and a deep cleansing facial made from fresh fruits. There are also massages and body wraps, and even mother/daughter and father/son massages. Active teenagers can get a jump on tanning around the pool, with a Fake Bake body treatment, and application of Elemis Self Tanning Cream. They can also get personal consultations on cut and style, as well as supplemental treatments for the hair, including scalp massage.
Other daytime activities that appeal to many guests are the onboard art auctions, and galleries, as well as tours of the ship’s very own collection of fine works by such noted artists as Helaine Blumenfield and Parish Wilbraham. Of course, one of the most popular attractions is the Royal Promenade, a four story shipboard mall, crowded with boutiques, cafés, live performers and street fairs. Buy a unique, brand name gift, or just essentials you forgot to pack, and all of it duty-free, with savings up to 25% off American pricing.
Adults can enjoy any and all the activities they choose, secure in the knowledge that younger family members over three years of age are well taken care of, and having a great time of their own through such programs as Explorers 6-8 years, Voyagers 9-11 years, Navigators 12-14 years, and Guests aged 15-17. All groups and programs are specifically geared to that age bracket and are conducted by professional staff holding college degrees in a variety of educational fields. There are even special “Aqua” programs for children under the age of three, which invite parents to spend time with their youngsters, exploring, learning and having fun!
Dining aboard the Voyager class of ships provides a range of taste experiences for both the educated palate, and just the hungry passenger, with plenty of options to go casual or formal. Beverage packages are available to make it easier to obtain a drink wherever you are on the ship, at any time, and can be a real convenience. Room service is also provided, for those times when a shore excursion has used up all your extra energy and you prefer to just kick off your shoes and watch a good movie while you eat in your stateroom.
When you’re out and about, some ships have Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream stands to take the heat out of a sunny afternoon, or you can visit the Café Promenade for pizza and a quick coffee, unless you decide to go 50s retro and grab a burger at Johnny Rockets. Fine dining begins in the Portofino, which specializes in Italian gourmet cuisine, with menus that change daily, and are revamped according to the season and availability of fresh ingredients. Guests over 13 are welcomed from 6-10p.m., with dress requirements of resort casual, or jackets/ties for men and dress/pant suit for the ladies, and reservations are recommended.
The Windjammer Café will appeal to those looking for casual dining, which they can enjoy nearly around the clock! The buffets continue throughout the day, as do the meal menus that change daily, and you can drop in for a late night snack as well. Attire is casual, except during the dinner hour when bare feet and tank tops are not permitted.
The Main Dining Room is an experience in itself, both from a gustatory and aesthetic point of view. The three-story setting has a name on each level: Vivaldi, Mozart and Strauss, with all the glittering chandeliers, crystal and silver, to match the elegance of their names. Open seating is available at breakfast and lunch, with assigned times and tables for the duration of your cruise. Attire varies with casual acceptable during the day, smart casual for dinner, and formal wear on designated evenings. Swimsuits are not permitted at anytime.
Looking for entertainment? You won’t have far to go, except when it comes to deciding where you’ll go first! Studio B is home to the fabulous ice shows with professional figure skaters showing off their skills. When they’re not performing, the rink is open for guest skating. And when there’s no skating, Studio B is also equipped to be used for game shows, parties and cooking demonstrations.
Live theatre brings you Broadway quality musical, drama and comedy performances, by Royal Caribbean’s own actors and chorus, as well as guest stars. Music can be found from one end of the ship to the other, with poolside concerts, DJs spinning tunes from the 50s and onward, and chamber music in the dining room. Casinos are one of the many fun attractions aboard Voyager class ships, with a host of amenities including the acceptance of travelers’ checks, personal checks (maximum 2 per guest with a limit), cash, and credit lines by special arrangement. The games available range from standard BlackJack and Craps, to slots, roulette, and the purely for fun- coin pusher.
Get together with other Royal Caribbean guests and join in the karaoke, game shows, talent nights, contests, theme nights, and parties designed to welcome everyone as a group, and introduce new acquaintances to each other, within such categories as a Honeymooners Party, Singles Party and more.
