Most Popular Caribbean Cruise Port Calls

Bookmark and Share

A Caribbean cruise is truly an amazing experience, for you and your loved ones. If you have not been on one, it is definitely better than skiing down the slopes or camping near a lake. All cruise ships come with the newest innovations that technology has to offer; so you need not fear for your safety or die from boredom. A typical Caribbean cruise will last 7 to 10 days, making several stops at the different ports scattered across the islands. For a true adventurer, these stopovers are a chance to explore the different islands and buy some small knick knack to bring home.

Interestingly enough, the most popular port of call is St. Thomas; and not Grand Cayman as many believe. There is a big difference between the landscape of the two. St. Thomas is well known for its lush green mountains, sprawling beaches and pleasant trade winds; while the Grand Caymans is popular for its diving sites. The former is one of the three Virgin islands of the United States and the later can be found south of Miami, Florida. These two are the most visited as tourists discover hidden treasures in these island paradises.

St. Marten is the casino haven of the Caribbean; and hosts the annual America’s Cup Regatta. One thing that will capture your interest is the European ambiance. Nudity is commonplace in the beaches of the French side of the island. While on the Dutch side, you will see dozens of larger cruise ships docking on the huge port.

Another favorite port of call is Aruba. Most typical cruises coming from Fort Lauderdale will not be able to make a stop at this island; but a cruise coming in from other Caribbean port will most probably dock in Aruba. This island is a popular getaway for those looking to have major fun under the sun, as Aruba’s beaches are incomparable in any across the globe.

Bahamas seems to be the most talked about, but not entirely as popular as the above mentioned ports of call. The reason could be that the islands scattered here are not as engaging and breathtaking as the others; but still many cruise ships stop at the Nassau and Freeport piers. These islands are very popular for families who would like a taste of the tropical environment while still being able to live with the simple technological luxuries they left behind.

These five ports of call are the most popular stopovers as many tourists get to enjoy a little of everything. If you would like to book a cruise for your family, it would be best to make your reservations early on as there are limited slots only. To fully enjoy a Caribbean cruise, take a longer 10 day vacation to be able to see take in all the sights and sounds of the tropical islands.
