Once you’ve chosen a cruise ship and the perfect itinerary for your vacation, it’s time to make your choice about accommodations. Cruise ships offer a variety of rooms, each with great value for your money. There’s something to fit every budget, and it’s just up to you how you want to customize your stay so you can make the most out of your cruise.
The various rooms onboard have something unique to offer. If you’re traveling on a low budget, an interior stateroom is your best bet. They are the most affordable rooms on the ship, without sacrificing quality and service. Certain lower levels use bunk beds, but upper and lower staterooms usually have the basic amenities of twin beds. These may or may not be separated or converted to king and queen sized beds, but if you have certain needs regarding your sleeping arrangements simply talk to any of the friendly crew members ahead of time so they can prepare these for you upon arrival. However, interior staterooms do not have a view, so you might want to be prepared by asking for a wakeup call when morning comes.
The next level in cruising accommodations are oceanview cabins. They have windows, giving you access to breathtaking views. They are slightly more expensive than interior staterooms, but have more amenities to offer. You are also provided with amenities such as a comfortable private bathroom, telephone, shower or tub, and satellite television. Some newer ships offer refurbished oceanview rooms, so be sure to ask your cruise operator about new additions you might want to avail of.
Cruise ships also offer cabins with private verandas or balconies where you can have your own full view of the ocean day or night. Typically, a sliding glass leads you to the veranda, so you can choose to leave the glass open and enjoy the breeze. The private balconies are sometimes furnished with a small table and two or three chairs where couples or groups of friends can sit back and relax. These types of rooms are slightly larger than the oceanview cabins, and are furnished with a bathroom, television, and telephone.
Following interior staterooms and oceanview cabins are luxurious suites. These provide lavish interiors at par with those of a five-star hotel. They have all the amenities that other accommodations have, but in a much more spacious area in classy interiors. These rooms are designed for those looking for the ultimate way to cruise in luxury and style. Some suite rooms even come with their own butler, who will gladly attend to your needs and give you personalized service. Furthermore, guests staying in suite rooms are treated to a full view of the ocean. If you are traveling with a large family, you will find it helpful that some cruise ships have adjoining rooms so that even if you stay in a suite, you can easily go next door to check up on your children.
