Guam is one of the most developed islands to be found in the Micronesia chain. Considered a subsidy of the US, Guam has grown, despite the tiny size of the island, to be a massive power in the area. Its location is considered to be the gateway to the Micronesia area and the main stop for ships wanting to make port on their journey to farther destinations. This has been the main reason for the high economic boom in the area. Guam has been inhabited for many centuries, the first being the Chamorros, who set the stage for the population growth and the native culture that is so prevalent on the island today. The island was in private hands for a short period of time until the owner was indicted on drug smuggling charges and brought to justice. Following this event, the US took control of the area.

Water Sports
One of the main industries on this island that is Guam is tourism so water sports are in high demand. This is especially true of the wind surfing which is a major sporting event all over the island. Diving has been recently discovered to be of the utmost quality around the island. Several wrecks of historic value have been discovered and daily dive tours are taken to see them. This includes a Spanish Ship that was rumored to contain gold but nothing has been produced as yet. Swimming and fishing take the high road on Guam as well. The natives will display the ancient techniques for landing large fish around the island to the delight of onlookers.

Island Diversity
Because Guam is a US land there is much in the way of diversity. The Chamorro natives maintain a large presence as well as the Spainards. Of course there are plenty of US based people who live on the island as the industry and economic stability are enticing to those interested in making money.

Activities
Guam is said to be one large resort. So there is no shortage of things to do. The natives of the island hold ceremonies daily for the enjoyment of the tourists and there is just about anything else you could dream of. The land has been largely Americanized so there is no loss of the comforts of home.
